Dr. Vilardi attended the University of Pennsylvania School of Dentistry where he received his Doctor of Medicine and Dentistry degree in 1974 and was awarded a teaching fellowship at University of Pennsylvania where he taught for a year and was involved in clinical research. He also practiced general dentistry in Center City Philadelphia. Dr. Vilardi was accepted into and graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Post Graduate Periodontal Program and is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Periodontology.

Following graduation, Dr. Vilardi joined the faculty of Columbia University and from headed the adjunctive orthodontic and occlusion courses in Post Graduate Periodontal Education until 1989. Dr. Vilardi taught at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine as an Assistant Professor in the Post Graduate Periodontal Department. He has lectured nationally and internationally in the areas of periodontology and implantology as well as having published in dental journals.

Dr. Vilardi is President and Creator of Dear Doctor: Dentistry and Oral Health Magazine. Dr. Vilardi has maintained a private practice in Fishkill New York for 27 years.
