Relocation of Endodontics in the new map of Dentistry
The arrival of Implantology in Dentistry, has changed the daily practice of many specialists. Prosthodontists and General Practitioners, have incorporated advanced surgical techniques in their practice. In many cases, Oral Surgeons and Periodontists perform prosthesis on implants. Evidently, the map of Dentistry has changed dramatically, over the last ten years. The success rate of implants is increasing rapidly, to the point that many dentists feel more secure to place an implant, than to attempt to save a tooth with questionable prognosis.
Should we, as Endodontists, limit our practice to root canals and Endodontic surgery? Should we expand the limits of Enodontics and, if so, to what extent? |
