Optimal apical preparation is the key to a successful root canal. Apical enlargement is performed to ensure cleanliness and improve obturation. Disinfecting irrigation solutions should be introduced safely and abundantly to eliminate whatever microbes are left behind. All of this should be done while maintaining the anatomy and integrity of the tooth structure and not compromising it. This course offers a unique opportunity to examine the realities behind the myths concerning root canals. The main objective is to educate clinicians on the clinical protocols required for achieving predictability and success.

Scientific material will be presented on the latest methods needed to ensure proper access, cleaning, shaping, irrigation and obturation. The program will review anatomical studies and suggest a technique for proper apical, coronal and mid-root preparation. Techniques for avoiding ledging, zipping, perforating, over preparation and canal straightening will also be discussed. Clinicians will learn about the latest scientific and Endodontic technology that can be immediately incorporated into their practices.

Participants will gain hands-on experience with all Smart Endodontics products using both plastic blocks and extracted teeth. Activities include:

• Achieving StraightLine Access with diamonds, Gates Glidden drills and K-Files.
• Instrumenting with LSX and the cordless EndoPAL? handpiece.

• Understanding of the design elements of the EndoVac Master Delivery Tip ? simultaneous delivery and evacuation of irrigant coronally
• Knowledge of the MacroCannula to remove coarse debris down to the lower mid-root
• The proper techniques for bringing the MicroCannula to working length to draw irrigant to the apical 1mm

• Trial-fitting a SimpliFill Apical Plug ? for that ?cork-in-a-bottle? fit.
• Placing the plug to length & removing the carrier.
